Content is king so when it comes to creating an escorted Rail holiday the railway element has to be comprehensive and appealing to the enthusiast. But the word ‘holiday’ itself creates an expectation that goes beyond the train journeys and steam engine features.

We visit Poland in May 2020 and combine five steam-hauled days on the wonderful Wolsztyn Experience before exploring Warsaw and Krakow by tram and visiting Auschwitz, the Wieliczka Salt Mines and Chabówka Heritage Park.
In June 2020 we escort travellers to Colorado to ride seven of its best pioneering railroads through the scenic Rocky Mountains using a private coach to connect to each one. In between, we visit ‘Old West’ mining towns, the Great Sand Dunes and the amazing UNESCO multi-storied Taos Pueblo village.
On a 15-day tour of Northern France in June 2020 spend a full day exploring the Baie de Somme Railway, travel on the Vapeur du Trieux Steam Railway and enjoy a chartered train on the Vendée Railway as well as a river cruise along the Odet River, free time in Amiens, Rouen, St Malo, Quimper and Nantes and a private tour of beautiful Bell-Ile-en-Mer.
Each year we continue to develop combination train and tram tours and in 2020 we escort transport fans on two tours to explore the networks in Italy and Portugal – a wonderful way to discover interesting Continental cities. We travel by train on a specialist and comprehensive tram tour that takes in Milan and Turin’s large networks before heading south to Rome and Naples to sample their smaller, but interesting routes.
We fly to Portugal to explore its fascinating trams and railway networks. A public transport ticket allows free time to explore the delightful Iberian cities of Lisbon and Porto, including both heritage and modern trams. The trip also includes a steam-hauled journey through the stunning Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Further afield we visit Peru and Bolivia in October 2020 to experience one of the highest rail journeys in the world across the Andes and take in some of the ‘must-see’ sights including Machu Picchu, the Salt Flats of Uyuni, we fly over the Nazca Lines and visit the Ballestas Islands and Sun Island.
We also take our very first tour to Jordan in November 2020 and combine visits to the country’s ancient cities and landmarks including Petra, Jerash, Madaba and the Dead Sea with steam journeys on the remaining sections of the Hejaz Railway
