Members of the Yorkshire Wolds Railway have been making the final preparations for their annual model railway show that steams in to Driffield on Saturday, March 22. Now in its eighth year, the event will be held in Driffield’s largest events space, the Rix Pavilion, at Driffield Showground, from 10am until 4pm.
Business development director of the YWR, Katy Bowser, said: “This year the show is bigger than ever – so much so, we are occupying the members pavilion in addition to the Rix Pavilion. Twenty layouts have been booked in a variety of gauges including O, 00, N and Z. One of the big attractions for this year’s show will also be the miniature railway giving rides to passengers.
“This show continues to be the main fundraising event for the YWR, and we look forward to seeing as many visitors as possible. All the money raised goes back into keeping the YWR on track.”
There will be many other layouts on display, along with trade stands selling railwayana, a tombola and refreshments. Admission costs £10 for adults, and children under 16 and YWR members can get in for free.
The first public running day for the YWR of 2025 will be Sunday, April 6. Visitors will be able to take a train ride in the brake van along the quarter-of-a-mile of track at Fimber Halt, located between Wetwang and Fimber, and also see progress on the latest development at the site of the visitor centre and working facility.
