On Friday, May 24, the Nene Valley Railway Wagon Group is offering a unique opportunity to join it for a photographic charter with A1 Class No 60163 Tornado running at the head of its demonstration goods train.
This event is planned to take place between Yarwell and Peterborough Nene Valley Railway (PNVR) Stations, with runpasts through Wansford Tunnel, Wansford Station, River Nene Bridge, Mill Lane, Longueville Junction, and PNVR. There will also be cameos at Wansford involving loading/unloading and the opportunity for shots on shed in Wansford Yard at the end of the day.
It has been confirmed that the locomotive will be facing west and so the day will begin at Peterborough, with customers transported there from Wansford in the railways Pacer unit. Once complete at Peterborough, the train will move to Longueville Junction to simulate some double track action. Following this, the next location will be Mill Lane Bridge and, time permitting, a location on Castor Straight.
Customers will then be returned to Wansford for a lunchtime break, where refreshments can be purchased from the cafe. After lunch there will be some shots in and around Wansford Station, which will include some cameos with suitably dressed actors. Tornado will then move to Yarwell for some favourite tunnel shots, prior to returning to Wansford for any last pictures before the freight set is put away. Those on the course are welcome to take pictures on shed as the loco is disposed to conclude the experience.
The wagon group has been working very hard to provide 18 wagons in, for the first time at NVR, a fitted rake prototypical of an East Coast express goods train. This has taken many months and a considerable amount of money, so it is hoped that the event will be well supported, because it is only through events like this that the NVR Wagon Group can continue to fund their good work.
This charter begins at 9am with a briefing and then photography from 10am. Refreshments will be available for customers to purchase from the onsite café at Wansford.
The whole package is priced £140 per person. For further details and to book, visit https://nvrwagons.co.uk/courses-and-experiences
