Grab the brand-new October issue of Railways Illustrated magazine for the best coverage of today’s railway scene.
Railways Illustrated reflects the energy and vitality of the present-day railway scene. Here’s what’s in the October issue:
Way out West… in East Lancashire!
The Bury Hydraulic Group is responsible for the preservation of four BR Western Region dieselhydraulic locomotives, in the shape of Class 14 D9531, Class 35 D7076, Class 42 832 Onslaught and Class 52 D1041 Western Prince. For our latest Preservation Profile, Andy Coward visited the ELR to meet Jonny Stevenson from the BHG and find out more about these historic locomotives.
The metal master
A shortage of skilled fabricators and welders in the heritage railway sector, along with increasingly elderly locomotives suffering from extensive levels of corrosion, has seen Ian Williams create a thriving business helping to transform a number of heritage diesel locomotives. Andy Coward went to meet him and take a look at one of the projects he has recently been working on.
10 Pictures: Bill Pizer
Regular contributor Bill Pizer delves into his collection to bring us his personal selection of the 10 Pictures he believes represent the best of his railway photography, captured over many years at the lineside, and making for another excellent submission to our monthly photographic series.
And there’s lots more to read in the October edition. It’s available to order here, or you can subscribe and receive every issue, every month with one of our latest deals.
