After an enforced hiatus the annual Bachmann Collectors Club Members Day made a welcome return today when the 2022 event was held at the Dean Forest Railway. Last taking place at the Llangollen Railway in 2019, the popular event – which offers Club members a free day out including train rides, lunch and behind the scenes tours of areas usually off-limits to the public – is just one of the many benefits enjoyed by Bachmann Collectors Club members. To mark the occasion, the Bachmann Collectors Club launched a new Limited Edition Class 08 Diesel Shunter which was on sale during the day. Fittingly, those attending the Members Day also had the chance to try their hand at driving a real 08 Shunter as part of the day’s activities laid on by Bachmann and the Dean Forest Railway.
The new Bachmann Collectors Club models depict No. 08818/No. 4 ‘Molly’ which is owned by Harry Needle Railroad Company but used by GBRf. This partnership has resulted in a highly attractive livery being applied to ‘Molly’, using the house colours of GBRf with additional markings to promote both companies. The Bachmann Collectors Club’s model of ‘Molly’ is available in both OO and N scale, the latter taking advantage of the latest developments for the Graham Farish model which allow a SOUND FITTED version to be offered as well. Both the OO and N scale models are highly detailed, comprising numerous separately fitted detail parts and, as usual, this is all highlighted by the exquisite livery application.
The OO scale model has a 8 Pin DCC decoder socket for those wishing to use the model on DCC. Priced at £149.95, only 504 models have been made and each is supplied with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
The N scale model is available in two formats, with standard models featuring a Next18 DCC decoder socket and pre-fitted speaker – these are priced at £144.95. For those who want to enjoy sound – either on Analogue control or DCC – the SOUND FITTED model is the perfect choice and this is available at £244.95. Just 250 standard and 250 SOUND FITTED models have been produced and again, each is supplied with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
