Ecclesbourne Valley Railway’s popular summer diesel enthusiasts event featuring a range of classic diesel locomotives is scheduled to see the first passenger runs of the beautifully repainted Class 47 D1842 which begins a long term loan period on the railway.
This is also the first Class 47 operation since the railway reopened, seeing the return of a type of locomotive that was once the mainstay of the quarrying operations on the branch in the 1980s.
Also featured is resident Class 14 hydraulic locomotive D9537 ‘Eric’ and popular Class 31 31601 ‘Devon Diesel Society’.
