Chinnor’s Class 31 takes Railway Technical Centre livery ahead of diesel gala

The Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway’s Class 31 D5581 (31163, 97205) has been repainted into BR Railway Technical Centre colours in time for the line’s April 5-7 diesel gala.

The locomotive was built by Brush in 1960 and privately-owned by the late former CPRR chairman Richard Floyd, who gifted it to the railway. It was used on the heritage railway for four years and then stored when its condition deteriorated.

Chinnor’s operations director Jamie Goodman decided to ensure that the locomotive returned to service and set up a restoration team with Dave Parks, Dave Eggelton and Dave Bedford the backbone of the team.
